Scott Adkins is 50. He still does every fight scene himself — and just directed his first film while starring in it
The action icon turned 50 last June. Instead of stepping back from the physical work, he picked up a camera and added it to the job description.
Scott Adkins was born in Sutton Coldfield, England, in June 1976, into a family that had worked as butchers for generations. He joined a judo club at ten years old. By nineteen he had a black belt in taekwondo. What followed was three decades of a career built almost entirely on doing his own fight sequences — no stunt double standing in for the punishment.
This June, Adkins turned 50. Most action stars at that age start handing the physical work to someone else. Adkins used the milestone to add a new title to his resume instead: director.
